How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

I would describe myself as a petite middle-aged woman with blonde bobbed hair, blue eyes and glasses. I love the colours green πŸ’š pink πŸ’— and purple πŸ’œ.  I tend to wear the colours I like and normally dress for comfort rather than fashion. I love reading πŸ“š,  writing ✍️ and walking πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ with my dog πŸ• Lily.   I am an optimistic person.

Family Traditions I have not kept

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

Probably the main family tradition I have not kept is that of the family roast for Sunday Lunch.Β  Living on my own, with no children I haven’t kept that tradition and my brothers are busy with their own families now.

I do still celebrate family birthdays and try to remember all my nephews and nieces birthdays.Β  My brother Peter makes sure every year that I am included in his family’s Christmas πŸŽ„ 🍾 celebrations.Β Β  I have made my own tradition of celebrating with LilyΒ  both her birthday and Christmas day.

I guess I have made new traditions for myself instead of keeping my parents’ traditions.

The reason I wrote “God Bless Our Dogs “.

As I write this blog post πŸ“« Lily is right by my side.Β  She spends most of her time as close to me as possible.   Dogs are such remarkable creatures and it is our spiritual πŸ™πŸ½ ✨️ πŸ™Œ ❀️ bond with them that was the inspiration behind “God Bless Our Dogs “.  Each of the stories in it is are actual encounters that happened to me or those close to me.   I firmly believe that God created Dogs πŸ• to be humankind’s best friend 🧑.  I would love more people to read it. To my Australian readers, I am selling it for $15  a copy.. Everyone who has read πŸ“š it loves it.  It is a celebration of Dogs πŸ• in our lives..

Maintaining Health and Well-being

What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?

There are a few things I do to maintain my health and well-being.   First of all, I practice mindfulness in my everyday life.  Just small things like slowly savouring the taste of my food, or focusing on how good it feels to pet Lily.  Definitely walking πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Lily helps to keep us both fit and is bonding time for both of us. Regularly taking my medications helps to keep me well and focused in my life. Enjoying the time I spend with my friends also helps my well-being.

Life is an unending cycle of baby steps.

If there is anything I have learned in my life, it is that everything happens in baby steps and in God’s time. As John Lennon quoted “Life is what happens whilst we are busy making other plans”. In times of stress, I tend to remember that saying.

Many of my readers would be aware that I am planning to move home, into social housing,Β  in the not-too-distant future.Β  The process for this takes many months and I was feeling disheartened by the process of awaiting NDIS approval. I have a support worker helping me with the housing application and now today, I feel a lot more optimistic,Β  the NDIS are looking for an approval letter from Mind. I am feeling optimistic because I know I am near the top of the waiting list, for Mind’s accommodation and it should be easy to get a letter about that. I am choosing to be optimistic and can relax and enjoy the rest of the process once this hurdle is overcome. All of my family and friends are praying πŸ™πŸ½ that this works out for me.Β  I believe in the power of prayer.

Watch this space,  I will keep you posted πŸ“« as the story unfolds.
