Mental Illness isn’t a curse. Practice self care

What’s something you believe everyone should know.

My journey along life has brought many experiences to me. Probably the most profound lesson I have learned is that having a mental illness is not a curse. I think my experience of mental illness had lead me to become a far better person, with loads of empathy and compassion for my fellow man. It is not the worst thing I have experienced and even when I am unwell, it is still possible to feel blessed and loved.

The biggest lesson I have learned is to practice self care as a priority. If I place my own well being as a priority I am better able to deal with the curve balls that life throws at me. I have learned the hard way to be kind to myself and not beat myself up if things don’t always go to plan. Being kind to myself, and not being hard on myself are what I have learned that has made my journey more richer and fulfilling.
